Sono ricercatore di Sociologia dei Processi Culturali e Comunicativi presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Politiche dell’Università di Pisa, dove insegno Sociologia dei Nuovi Media.
I miei interessi di ricerca si concentrano sull’impatto sociale dei media digitali nella vita quotidiana, sulle problematiche connesse alle disuguaglianze digitali, sull’applicazione dei digital methods all’analisi dei social media e sul rapporto tra comunicazione politica e ICTs.

Ho recentemente fondato, con alcuni colleghi e con il gruppo Wa-Fi dell’IIT del Cnr di Pisa, il MediaLab, un laboratorio di ricerca sui Big Data in Social and Political Research che accoglie anche giovani Research Assistants per i loro tirocini curriculari.

Roberta Bracciale, Ph.D, is an Assistant Professor of Media Sociology (SPS/08) at the Department of Political Science, University of Pisa, Italy. She teaches “Sociology of New Media” within the Masters Degree in: Business Communication and Human Resources Policy; Humanistic Informatics; and Sociology. She also teaches “Media Theory” at Italian Navy Academy of Livorno. She is member of the PhD Board in “Data Science” of Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa; Research Associate at Institute of Informatics and Telematics (IIT) of Italian National Research Agency (CNR); Research Associate at Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), and director of the MediaLab-Big Data in Social and Political Research Laboratory. Her current research interests focus on the social impact of digital media in the everyday life of the citizens, with particular attention to methodological perspectives related to media studies (eg. Big Data and Digital Methods) applied to the field of Political Communication and to the issue of Digital Inequalities.
